Though group yoga nidra workshops are becoming more popular in yoga studios and meditation centers, it can still be difficult to find regular classes that fit your schedule. And the more you are able to practice yoga nidra, the more benefits you will experience in your daily life.
Having a small library of high-quality yoga nidra downloads in your iPod or mp3 player allows you to experience yoga nidra wherever and whenever you want.

So what is yoga nidra, anyway?
In Sanskrit, yoga nidra means yogic sleep. It is a meditation practice in which the mind, body… the whole being, actually… are at rest. And, ironically, when practicing yoga nidra you try not to fall asleep.
Many yoga nidra practitioners report that practicing yoga nidra is a bit like riding a wave between waking and dreaming states.
During the practice, you relax what are called the koshas, or layers of being, in yoga, one at a time: the physical body, the breath body, the mind body, the witness body, and the bliss body.
After a 40-minute yoga nidra practice, it may feel as if you’ve had two or three hours of deep sleep. And many people practice yoga nidra simply for relaxation.
But in its truest sense, yoga nidra is a meditation. And, unlike many forms of meditation in which you have to sit up and concentrate, yoga nidra is just the opposite – you lie down comfortably and don’t need to concentrate. All you need to do is listen to the voice of the facilitator and follow along.
(If or when you learn to practice yoga nidra on your own without a facilitator or recording, you will need to concentrate a bit more until you have the stages fully memorized.)
As a meditation, the most important aspect is to set a resolve, or sankalpa, that sets the trajectory for the rest of the practice. And towards the end of the practice, you will revisit your resolve.
Touching Bliss Yoga Nidra Download
I have recorded a full-length yoga nidra download called Touching Bliss. It is just over 40 minutes long.
When writing the script, I stuck as closely as I could to the eight-stage format described by Swami Satyananda in his book, Yoga Nidra. But I also made an effort to make this practice completely accessible to Westerners who may not be familiar with yoga or meditation jargon.
Unlike many yoga nidra downloads, this recording includes an introduction to set a context for yoga nidra, as well as a conclusion to help integrate the practice.
The price of this yoga nidra download is $9.99. Click the button below to download:
Note: This is for the mp3 sound recording of the yoga nidra practice. If you’re looking for a copy of the text, here’s the link where you can get the yoga nidra script PDF.

Thank you for your purchase!

David, I loved the yoga nidra, beautifully done, and your voice is just perfect, even though I am not an American. The visualisation is especially good, a treat I will enjoy many times, Namaste!
Namaste! Thank you for your comment, I’m really glad the recording is proving useful.
I am looking for the PDF file for the printed version on the Mp3 which I have downloaded. Looking forward to listening.
Hi Brenda, you download the PDF of the script here: http://www.newmoonyoga.com/yoga-nidra-script. Let me know if you have any questions.
I’m very disappointed to find a lack of good yoga nidra instruction available on the internet for free. How can you insist on payment for something so sacred?
this is an honest question.

Arthur, if someone wants to pay my bills while I create information for free, I am certainly open to offers. Another question might be, why insist on getting something for free that is so valuable? Churches, ashrams, temples, rabbis, swamis all have expenses, and whether they pay them themselves or someone else pays for them, they still have to be paid. I try my best to keep it affordable. Thanks for your comment.
