FAQ

Frequently asked questions:

Q. Where is your yoga studio and how do I get there?

A. Please see our location.

Q. When are your classes?

A. Please see the schedule.

Q. How much are classes? And do you offer student or senior discounts?

A. Please see our fees.

Q. I have swine flu, pink eye, a cold, and a mild case of ebola, can I come?

A. If you have, are still recovering from, or have been in close contact with someone with any communicable illness, please come back when you are sure you are completely in the clear.

Q. What should I bring to hot yoga?

A. Please bring your own towel and yoga mat. Bring a bottle for water to keep cups out of landfills.

Q. What should I bring to non-hot yoga classes?

A. If you own a mat, please bring it. Otherwise there are plenty here for your use.

Q. How early do I need to arrive for class?

A. 10 minutes before class is plenty. Arrive 20 minutes early and you will likely find the door will still be locked. That said, the published class start times are when classes begin and the door locks, and late arrivals are not allowed.

Q. When is a good time to stop by to check out the studio, to meet you in person, or to ask more questions?

A. Sometimes we’re here between classes but more often we’re not, so it is wise to make an appointment rather than arrive expecting to talk with someone. We do keep class and membership information in the info box outside, but it’s the same information you’ll find on this web site.

Q. Is there a place to put my stuff during class?

A. Please keep your belongings off the yoga floor. There are shelves for your shoes and small belongings. Bags may be kept under a chair. The studio is locked during class, so no one will wander in.

Q. What should I wear?

A. First, please don’t wear perfume, as people are sensitive and we do quite a bit of breathing. Do wear clothes comfortable to move in.

Q. What about food and water?

A. Yoga is best done on an empty stomach, so no meals 2-3 hours beforehand. If you need to eat a snack, choose something easily digestible. Yoga is also best done with empty bladder and bowels, so please take care of business before class for everyone’s comfort.

You may bring water, but it is better to arrive hydrated than to drink water during class.

Q. May I bring my child with me to class?

A. At this point we are not equipped for childcare during adult classes, so please make other arrangements for young children. Children ages 16 and above may attend on their own, but parents must fill out the registration and liability waiver beforehand.

Otherwise, children under 16 are welcome in our kids and family yoga classes. Please see the schedule for classes and events for children.

Q. How often can I do yoga?

A. For best results, maintain a daily yoga practice either here or at home. If you practice a vigorous form of yoga like Ashtanga, it is recommended that you take one day off per week plus moon days (full moon and new moon).

Q. I have health problems that I’m concerned will interfere with participation, do you think it’s okay to do yoga?

A. That is a question for your doctor. If you have your doctor’s permission to practice yoga but you still have concerns, start with restorative yoga the second Sunday of the month, or schedule a private session.

Q. May I observe a yoga class before participating?

A. No. People generally don’t like to be watched while practicing yoga. Come willing to participate, and see what happens. Just do what you can and don’t worry about the rest.

Q. Do you offer private yoga lessons, classes, and instruction?

A. Yes, please see the private yoga page.

Q. I want to attend but cannot afford it. Do you offer assistance?

A. Yes, so please come anyway. Generous donors have made classes available for people with financial need. All you need to do is ask.
