About
Welcome to New Moon Yoga LLC!
It is our goal to make the benefits of yoga available to people of all walks of life, and our schedule reflects a variety of offerings for all ability levels and interests.
We are non-dogmatic in our approach to yoga, we welcome people of all religious faiths, and you will never be asked to ‘believe’ anything or do anything you’re not comfortable with. Our yoga is completely experiential.
If you come to us wanting to explore the depths of consciousness,we have plenty to offer you. If you come to us to improve your balance or increase flexibility, we’ve got you covered. Stress relief? Relaxation? There’s no better place. And if you just want a sweaty workout? Bring it! We’ll hand your rear end to you in one of our vigorous classes. Paper or plastic?
New Moon is Knoxville’s top choice for beginners, we usually have one to three beginner series in progress at any time, so sign up for the next one! Our beginner series are appropriate for adults of any age and most physical conditions, though if you have a concern, please contact us.
We believe that regular yoga practice is the key to actually experiencing the many benefits of yoga, so we offer extremely affordable memberships. Take as many classes as will fit into your schedule for only $49 a month, and with only a one-year commitment! We also offer competitive drop-in rates for most of our classes.
This studio was born out of an experiment with teaching by donation. Though we found that business model unsustainable, it is still important to us to reach out to those who would benefit from yoga but cannot afford it. Our teachers are active in the community as volunteers, either as yoga instructors or otherwise. The studio has scholarships available for those undergoing cancer treatment and also offers hardship member rates should $39 a month be out of reach.
Yoga may not be for everyone, but we think it should be available for anyone who wants it!

He is a certified Kripalu Yoga teacher and also loves the Satyananda Yoga of Paramhansa Satyananda Saraswati, founder of the Bihar School of Yoga, and the traditional Ashtanga Yoga practice as taught by Manju Jois. David has logged more than 1,000 teaching hours in the past 3 years and is an award-winning writer for his work in yoga and mental health. He is currently developing the curriculum for a 200-hour yoga teacher training. David is also active in the Quaker community and is proud uncle to three boys.
